“Area Control Service in Air Traffic” Conference was Held.
On May 8, 2025, a conference titled “Area Control Service in Air Traffic” was held in our School Conference Hall. Three important speakers experienced in the field of air traffic control participated in the conference: Air Traffic Controller Dr. Arif TUNCAL, Air Traffic Controller Nebi Musa KAFALI and Air Traffic Controller Metin Alper GÜNDÜZ.
The role of area control services in managing air traffic safely, regularly and effectively was discussed within the scope of the event. Speakers provided detailed information about the duties and responsibilities of air traffic controllers, the challenges they face, decision-making processes and the effects of technological developments on the sector.
Dr. Arif TUNCAL shared his presentation, which included technical information about the procedures applied in airspace management, with the students. Mr. Tuncal stated that “On April 27, 2025, 1729 transit flights were served in Turkish Airspace and with this figure, the highest number of transit flights of all time was reached in Turkish Airspace, leaving behind the previous record of 1711 flights recorded on April 9. Nebi Musa KAFALI made evaluations based on examples of difficult situations experienced in field control services. Metin Alper GÜNDÜZ shared his information and suggestions for candidates who will start the profession and guided our students who aim to have a career in air traffic control. In the Q&A session held at the end of the conference, students had the opportunity to ask the questions they were curious about and get information directly from the speakers. Following the Q&A session, our School Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aytekin FIRAT presented certificates of appreciation to the speakers and stated that such events organized in our School make significant contributions to the development of our students’ professional knowledge and vision.
